Consistency
My Own Half Marathon Progress
As some of you know I've been on a bit of a push with running recently.⠀
⠀
My week currently consist of; Progressive easy long runs, hill session, intervals, strength and recovery
⠀
𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗜 𝗿𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗳 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝟭:𝟱𝟱:𝟬𝟴. I genuinely thought my lungs were going to burst and I vowed never to do it again ⠀
⠀
I lied. 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗜 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗳 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗳 𝟭:𝟯𝟬:𝟰𝟭 it felt relatively comfortable and my lungs certainly didn't burst ⠀
⠀
Knocking 25 minutes off a PB in 12 months isn't bad going! Maybe at Injury Mechanics, we know what we're talking about?
⠀
The point I want to make is; none of this has been achieved by a magic pill, a revolutionary new style of training or a fancy pants pair of trainers. ⠀
⠀
It's simply down to getting the basics right, staying injury-free, focusing on progressive training, optimal recovery and using the training time I have to make it as sport-specific as possible ⠀
⠀
I'm well aware 1:30 for a half marathon isn't a blistering speed but to knock that lump of time off in 12 months whilst juggling a busy work and home life and welcoming our first child into the world shows YOU that you can achieve your goals 🫵 no matter how busy.⠀
⠀
Sometimes you just need to know the most efficient way of doing it!
⠀
For those of you training for your first marathon, I'm with you all the way...
